About

<Stuff about=”code” /> is Martin O’Hanlon’s project blog. I write about the things that I create with code and technology in the hope that others will enjoy them (either through ridicule or admiration).

Mostly that means Python, Raspberry Pi and Minecraft, with detours into the micro:bit, GPIO, cameras, robots and whatever else has my attention. The posts here go back to 2012.

Except where otherwise noted, content on this site is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License.

You are free to:

• Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
• Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material

for any purpose, even commercially.

Under the following terms:

• Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
• ShareAlike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.

Third-party material used under fair use or with permission, such as third-party images, is not covered by this licence.

Privacy

This site is static. There are no accounts, no comments and no forms, so there is nothing here that asks you for personal information.

Hosting. The site is built with Jekyll and hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub records requests for pages, which includes your IP address. See GitHub’s privacy statement.

Analytics. I use Google Analytics to see which posts people actually read. It records things like the pages you visit, the site you arrived from, roughly where in the world you are, and what browser and device you use, and it stores cookies in your browser to do so. I use it to work out what is worth writing more of — nothing else. I don’t sell it and I don’t share it.

If you would rather not be counted, the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on blocks it, as will most tracker-blocking extensions and browsers.

Other things loaded from elsewhere. Two fonts come from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests them from Google’s servers. Posts containing videos embed them from YouTube, using its no-cookie domain so nothing is stored until you press play.

No advertising. There are no adverts on this site and no advertising cookies.

Affiliate links. A small number of older posts link to products on Amazon using an affiliate tag, which means I may earn a little if you buy something after following one. They are always ordinary links in the text, never adverts, and they cost you nothing extra.
